#Satta massa gana update
Can't say much about the booklet too from the promo CDs I got but I'll try to update these comments when I'll get my hands on the final product.Ġ6. While newcomers will discover a box of delights, reggae connoisseurs will surely welcome the well-paced story of jamaican music. The second CD is more of a jamaican soundsystem mix, focused on the end of the 70s rub-a-dub and early 80s dancehall, flowing from a song to its toasted version with ease. The rest of the first CD is elegantly selected too, globally, it's quite a cool summer thing. They shall all enjoy their afterdinner rolled one on a peaceful Jamaican chillout time with classics like "Satta Massa Gana" (The Abyssinians), Marcus Garvey" (Burning Spear"), "Police & Thieves" (Junior Murvin) or "Fisherman" (The Congos). If you need some reggae that won't annoy the pop/rock-abused ears you've invited for "dinner and a blunt", it's a well-fitted choice too. It's an "only huge roots reggae hits" selection so you'll have to go somewhere else for some rare unearthed old school gems, but if you need to educate a friend to reggae music, it's a good introduction. THE number one specialist in all England is one David Rodigan - thankfully he's there, cooking the first platter. This 8th volume focuses on reggae, roots reggae and dancehall, and tries to offer a coherent and comprehensive view on Jamaican reggae music.
#Satta massa gana series
The "Kings Of" series of BBE are not compilations for the record collectors out there, they're selections FROM the record collectors out there. (2xCD/2x12") Barely Breaking Even Records/Rapster Records RR0066CD,
The title track off the album 'Satta Massagana' was covered by Ethiopian dub outfit Dub Colossus in 2011 and released on Real World Records. And once again in 2007 as a deluxe edition which included four additional bonus tracks. This edition included four previously unreleased bonus tracks. In 1993 the album was released on compact disc for the first time by Heartbeat Records. The album would see numerous re-releases over the next decade, including in 1988 by Clinch and in 1989 by the Blue Moon label. A note on track-listings: the Klik & Different releases reverted to the original track listing of the limited pre-release editions which placed the title track as the final track, furthermore, the Azul edition renamed some tracks and did not include "African Race". Similarly, Clive Hunt's US-based Azul label released the album under the title Satta.
The album was released in the United Kingdom on the UK Klik Chart Sounds and Different labels, as well as on Bernard Collins' own Clinch label. The following years, 19, saw the album released by three labels under the title Forward On To Zion. The first official release occurred in Jamaica in 1976 on Pentrate Label, issued by Clive Hunt and Geoffrey Chung, and shortly after in the United States on Jam Sounds. The first unofficial editions, very limited in quantity, were released by Clive Hunt in 1975. The Abyssinians debut album has had a very complex release history. 2.3 2007 Heartbeat deluxe edition bonus tracks.
